We <3 natural beauty, but what does “naturally derived” mean

Here’s the thing. Beauty products are often plastered with claims that don’t have a clear definition. “Naturally derived” being one of them. In short? A “natural ingredient” is one that still reflects its natural structure but may have gone through physical processing (such as water extraction or heating) to be used in a product.

At Love Beauty and Planet, we use a reputable international standard which defines an ingredient as “naturally derived” if it’s unchanged from its natural state. The term can also be also be used for an ingredient that has a natural source, has undergone some processing but retains more than 50% of its original natural structure. Ahhh, got it.

We know that looking for the best beauty and hair products can be a little overwhelming. So that you can make the right choices for your lifestyle, we always want to be transparent and open about our ingredients. A whole lot of love goes into every single bottle, which is why we’re proud to give you the lowdown on our formulas, from hair products to deodorants with no nasties.

If you don’t see a “naturally derived” label

Don’t fret… we’re diligently hard at work to increase all our “naturally derived” percentages . If you don’t see a “naturally derived” label on your favourite product, it doesn’t mean they don’t contain naturally derived ingredients. It simply means we aren’t yet able to showcase the percentages on some of our products.
